I am not a fool, nor do I suffer fools lightly. There are scores of alternative medical scams out there on the Internet of which one must continually be wary. Most herbal and other scams can fairly easily be detected, if you study the promotional wording, pricing, etc. It boils my blood when I see these profit artists take cheap every day herbs and try to market them to the public with fancy wording for money that would rival Big Pharma's. Give me a royal break! When I first read about the medical uses of Sodium Chlorite, I was equally skeptical, but after extensive study of both the protocol and the founder, Jim Humble, I am convinced this is a valuable new paradigm. I sealed that deal when I actually used some on my very sick dog which was close to death. Jim Humble has put all of his knowledge out to the public for our scrutiny, and he is not attempting to make money from what he has discovered. In fact, the formula for making his remedy is public knowledge and all one needs is the raw chemical to make your own 28% solution bypassing him and all of the other marketers of his product. That in itself is so telling!

Jim Humble may be one of the least likely of candidates for a modern discoverer of a new modality in fighting infections that one could imagine, but he certainly seems to have hit upon something very unique and useful when it comes to overcoming infections with a very innovative protocol. Who would have thought that an aerospace research engineer with no medical credentials and who dabbled in gold prospecting/processing would come up with a unique effective way to treat difficult infections—infections that have confounded the medical world for millenniums? Not in a thousand years! Yet he seems to have! You can go to his web sites and read his free e-books for more in-depth information. I will quickly relate to you here the basics of his discovery and how one can utilize sodium chlorite to saving gravely ill animals when the vet has exhausted all other possibilities plus my own personal experiences with Sodium Chlorite.

Jim Humble was heading a gold prospecting party in South America a number of years ago in a part of that country reputably void of malaria. Unfortunately to everyone's surprise when he and his party were in the deep jungle, days away from medical help, two of his men came down with malaria with no medical supplies in camp. In desperation, he decided to use the only thing in camp that seemed to kill bad bugs—water purification drops which are used to make jungle water drinkable and safe. These drops were made of 3.5% Sodium Chlorite and are sold at most health food/camping stores. He mixed up these drops and created his Health Drink and gave a large dose of it to the deathly sick men. To everyone's surprise within 4 hours, both men were up and doing very well apparently cured of malaria. Jim was as amazed as was everyone else. From that point onward, he started researching and tweaking his Sodium Chlorite remedy. He found out quickly that this 3.5% solution did not cure 100% of the time. There were always some cases of malaria that did not seem to respond which probably gave a cure rate more like 70% at best for his store bought water purification drops. Jim wanted to know why it worked in many cases but not all? He eventually worked out that the effective infection fighting component of this Sodium Chlorite solution was not Sodium Chlorite, but a gas that it produces, Chlorine dioxide and that larger concentrations were necessary than found in the commercial water purification product.

Malaria infected red blood cells in human blood. The Plasmodium falciparum infection is denoted by the arrows. It is presumed that the Red blood cells absorb Chlorine dioxide which kills these parasites so effectively.

When Sodium Chlorite comes in contact with an acid, it breaks down into the gas, Chlorine Dioxide plus sodium. One has to assume that Humble's original use and benefits from the 3.5% Sodium Chlorite water purification drops was due to minute production levels of the gas, Chlorine dioxide upon contact with stomach acids. Later, he found that larger doses of the 3.5% concentration gave better cure rates. Later still, he increased the Sodium Chlorite's concentration to 28% plus found that pre-activating this solution with vinegar (acetic acid) or citric acid or lemon juice then waiting 3 minutes prior to ingesting improved the efficacy of this as a medicinal remedy even further. The previous 70% cure rate came close to 100% now. It is theorized that the pre-activated Chlorine dioxide is picked up by the red blood cells in the gastrointestinal tract and carried throughout the body. It is this red blood cell absorption of Chlorine Dioxide that kills the red blood cell parasite that causes malaria, P. falciparum. Another suggested immunity enhancement from Chlorine Dioxide is the possibility that it could be a precursor to Hypochlorous acid, a very important body acid for the immune system. Chlorine Dioxide may also be important in leeching out heavy metals and neutralizing various toxins beyond actually killing pathogens. Whatever the true mechanism of this remedy, one thing is known, it seems to work wonders on curing many infections.

Sodium Chlorite (NaClO2) is a white-yellowish, flaky powder employed in industry as a convenient means to produce the gas, Chlorine Dioxide. Chlorine Dioxide is used in the textile, paper, and pulp industries as a bleach. It is also widely used at municipal water purification plants to treat drinking water. Sodium Chlorite can be found incorporated into mouth washes, tooth pastes, rinses, chewing gums, etc. However, as an isolated chemcial, it is highly flammable when dry and should be handled with caution.

Interestingly, Sodium Chlorate (NaClO3), a close relative of Sodium Chlorite with one more atom of oxygen has been used as a supplement for cattle in a study to control E. coli infections with success. One study from the Journal of Animal Science concluded:

"Chlorate treatment reduced E. coli counts throughout the intestinal tract but did not alter total culturable anaerobic bacterial counts or the ruminal fermentation pattern. Therefore, it appears that chlorate supplementation is a viable potential strategy to reduce E. coli populations in cattle prior to harvest."

I think this study suggests how safe and of possible value that this similar chemical structure can become in fighting infections though I understand that even one atom's difference can vastly change a molecule. Perhaps, Sodium Chlorite is not too different? It also seems to suggest that only harmful pathogens may be targeted leaving the good bacterial cultures alone in the gut. This is one thing that many commercial antibiotics will not do!

Preparation and Protocol

Jim Humble's 28% solution can be found marketed on the web in many places ready to use. First, let me correct a common misconception here about the supposedly 28% strength of MMS. In reality, it is really 22.4% Sodium Chlorite. Not that it really makes a lot of difference in the general scheme of therapeutics. This discrepancy occurs because MMS is made from an 80% technical grade of Sodium Chlorite.

If you notice, Google has several vendor ads linked to the top of this page, though I do not endorse them. It will be marketed as MMS or Miracle Mineral Supplement. I know, a cheesy name, but there is a reason for this, the FDA! Supplements are not regulated by the FDA. If you were looking to buy or sell a medical cure for any disease, the FDA would shut a remedy down in a minute with a more obvious name. A supplement classification exempts this remedy for the time being from FDA control with a supplement type name helping insure this safety from prosecution. I buy mine off of eBay where you can find it ready made from $15-20 per 4 ounce bottle. It must be activated with an acid, but not with anything that contains Vitamin C, nor should it be added to any filler medium in a drench that contains Vit. C like orange juice or supplemented juices or milk where Vit. C has been added. It is recommended that Citric acid is the best activator, but I tend to use just plain old vinegar or lemon juice.

It can be given orally or intravenously (IV). Of course, orally is the easiest and safest route and it is what I would recommend for most animals. Simply place one teaspoon of vinegar in a small container, add the desired number of drops of the 28% solution to it and wait 3-10 minutes. One must wait a minimum of 3 minutes to allow the generation of Chlorine Dioxide gas in this solution before treating your animal. One can wait up to 10 minutes, but that is usually the outside limit. It should be always prepared fresh and quickly administered. Once the sodium chlorite has been activated with your acid with the required waiting period, add it to a filler of some type for the animal to voluntarily drink or involuntarily drenched. Many animals will drink it right down. One or two ounces of plain water would probably be the desired material if you are drenching a horse; however, you can drench with any amount. You might use broth for a dog or cat, if you prefer not to use water. Jim Humble advises one to treat with small doses many times a day rather than two or three times a day. If you have the time and inclination, this is probably the preferable schedule. If not, I would at least try to treat your animal two to three times per day. Dosages vary and are open to some guess work. For small animals, I would start around 1-2 drop dosages. For humans, it is suggested that one should start out at a drop and depending on tolerance, work oneself up to a standard 15 drop dose. For a horse, I would start at a low dosage and monitor how the animal is tolerating this treatment before you go to the larger recommended dosages. As an example, it is recommended that one uses 3 drops per 25 pounds for small animals. For larger animals like the horse, use one drop per 25 pounds (approx 40 drops for a 1000 pound horse). As mentioned earlier, I would start my horse out at around 15 drops and see how it is tolerated before moving on. It is always good to be a little cautious at first as each individual is just that, an individual and may react uniquely. If you use larger drop dosages as would be appropriate for the horse, be sure to use corresponding larger volumes of acid to activate the sodium chlorite, 2 teaspoons of acid for a 40 drop dose. It is always better to use too much acid than too little.

The diluted activated solution can be given orally, used topically, mixed with DMSO, or given intravenously. I will not discuss the IV-administration on this page, but will cover it extensively in my book

If you want to save more money and make your own solution from commonly sold 80% Sodium Chlorite powder:

Ingredients mixed for a final 28% MMS (22.4% sodium chlorite) Solution:

Sodium Chlorite (80%)

28 grams
add to make 100 ml.

add to make 250 ml

Distilled Water

70 grams
140 grams
280 grams
add to make 500 ml
add to make 1000 ml
To make a percentage solution, one would add 28 grams of solute (sodium chlorite) to make 100 ml of solution. This will give a 28% solution. Note, one must first weight out the solute and then add enough water to make the target volume as the solute will itself take up some volume on its own.

The formla for a percentage solution is

Drug weight (X) / finished solution = %strength / 100

Thus, to make100 ml of 28% of sodium chlorite, your formula would be:

X / 100 ml = 28% / 100

X = 100 x 28 / 100

X = 2800 / 100

X = 28 grams to make 100 ml of solution by adding only enough water to make 100 ml

Cautions:

1)   In humans, diarrhea and nausea can occur at the larger dosages. One should generally back off the dosage levels until these symptoms disappear and slowly increase until one can obtain around a 15 drop dosage (human). In animals, one may want to follow the same specs, though if your animal is seriously ill, you may want to forgo these symptoms for an overall improvement in condition at initial larger dosages. It is a judgment call.

2)   I would avoid breathing the activated sodium chlorite. So do not put it in a nebulizer. Never put the full strength 28% sodium chlorite directly on skin. If this happens, immediately wash with water. It will burn and produce damage in that form! If full strength 28% solution is spilt and allowed to dry, it can be flammable! In contrast, the diluted activated solution in drop dosages can safely be orally given, sprayed on skin, etc!

3)   If for some reason, you find that you have overdosed a patient with Sodium Chlorite, immediately take 1-5 grams of vitamin C to deactivate the sodium chlorite along with plenty of water.

Jerry Tennant MD writes:

"MMS, sodium chlorite, promotes an oxidative therapy. I have yet to find any virus, bacteria, yeast, fungus parasite, or poison it will not destroy. I have seen the fever and fatigue/muscle aches of flu disappear in 2-3 hours after using it. MMS works the same way as the white blood cells, kills bugs by oxidation. Remember that sodium chlorite is an electron stealer , so it should not be used for more than a week or two, but just to get ahead of an infection. Electron stealers cause damage, are acidic, are free radicals, are destructive".

New MMS Protocol Recommendations:

PROTOCOL 1000   is basically taking 3 drops of activated MMS each hour, for 8 hours a day, for 3 weeks. However many people cannot start taking that many drops and should start with only 2 or even 1 drop and hour. This is determined by how sick they are to begin with. If one is feeling very sick then start with 1 drop an hour or even 1/2 drop and hour, but then begin taking more if you feel that you can. The rule is, if you feel that the drops are making you feel worse, take less and if they are not making you feel worse then take a little bit more the next hour, but never more than 3 drops an hour.

The way you accomplish activation can be done in 4 different ways, any one of these methods of activation is acceptable: First, add your number of MMS drops to a clean dry glass, then activate as follows:

(1)   (preferred method) add 1 drop of 50% citric acid for each drop of MMS that is in your glass, swirl or shake to mix, wait 20 seconds, add 1/2 to 1 glass of water or juice and drink.

(2)   add 5 drops of 10% citric acid for each drop of MMS in the glass, and then shake or swirl to mix, wait 3 minutes, add 1/2 to 1 glass of water or juice and then drink.

(3)   add 5 drops of vinegar for each drop of MMS in the glass, shake or swirl to mix, wait 3 minutes, add 1/2 to 1 glass of water or juice and then drink.

(4)   add 5 drops of full strength lemon juice for each drop of MMS in the glass, shake or swirl to mix, wait 3 minutes, add 1/2 to 1 glass of water or juice and then drink.

Do not use orange juice. Do not use juices with added vitamin C or ascorbic acid added. Do not use concentrated juices that must have water added to them. Fresh juices are best
.

But if you don't want to make up a single dose each hour, you can make 8 doses in the morning, and keep the solution in a closed container all day. Just follow the above instructions multiplying all the figures by 8 and then put that liquid in a closed container. Take 1/8th of it each hour. Don't worry the MMS will last hours longer than is needed.

Now, these are the important instructions you must be sure to follow: You must not make yourself sicker than you already are: Do not cause yourself a lot of nausea, or pain, or diarrhea. When you notice any of these symptoms coming on take less MMS. Try not to stop taking MMS, just take less. Go from 2 drops an hour of activated MMS to one drop an hour. Or if you are already take only one drop an hour, then take 1/2 drop and hour, or even 1/4 drop an hour. Do not cause yourself diarrhea if you can avoid it by taking less MMS. Pain, diarrhea, nausea and other discomforts cause loss of energy, which in turn causes slower healing and slower recovery. On the other hand try to increase the amount of drops you are taking until you are taking 3 drops an hour, but do not go over 3 drops an hour. CONTINUE THIS UNTIL YOU ARE WELL.

Here is how you carry your 8 hour dose with you instead of having to activate it hourly.

Take a liter bottle, divide it into 8 equal parts. Mix 24 drops of MMS and 24 drops of 50% citric acid. Swirl or mix for about 20 seconds. Fill the bottle with water and you will have a 3 drops of MMS activated per line taken hourly.

NOTE:This activated bottle of MMS will last up to 5 days in the frig. We found that as long as you activate MMS and does not come into contact with a pathogen the chlorine dioxide is not released.

PROTOCOL 2000
(Last update: 25th of August 2012) is for cancer and other life threatening diseases. It basically is taking as many drops of activated MMS each hour as a person can take without becoming any sicker, or feeling worse, or developing diarrhea. It must be done for 10 hours a day, for 3 weeks or until well. It is best to start off with only one drop an hour and quickly build up to as many drops as you can take, again let me say without without feeling worse. Remember all drops must be activated as given below. Please take this to heart, do not make yourself sicker than you already are. Take as many drops as you can, but easy dose it. Making yourself sicker uses up energy and makes the recovery go slower.

Do not use nectars, that is juices made from grinding the pulp of fruits. FRESH juices are REQUIRED, if you use them. That means you extract the juice from fresh fruits.

But if you don't want to make up a single dose each hour, you can make 10 doses in the morning, and keep the solution in a closed container all day. Just follow the above instructions multiplying all the figures by 10 and then put that liquid in a closed container. Take 1/10th of it each hour. Don't worry the MMS will last hours longer than is needed so long as you keep the lid on tight. Be sure to only use water for this all day solution, as juices will usually reduce the strength or totally kill the MMS1 by the end of the day. However, you could add some fresh juice to the MMS1 & water solution just before taking an hourly dose.

On the other hand try to increase the amount of drops you are taking until you are taking as many drops an hour as you can without feeling worse, but do not go over 12 drops an hour.

After 3 days you must add MMS2. The way you take MMS 2 is to take half a capsule (before, it was a full capsule. this has now changed to half a capsule.) every other hour, or to say it different, take half a capsule every 2 hours. HOWEVER, start with 1/8 capsule for the first day and go to 1/4 capsule for the second day, and then one half a capsule thereafter. So you will be taking 5 capsules each day. The first day open the capsule and pour out 7/8 of the capsule each time and then the next day pour out only 1/4 of the capsule.

This protocol is for all kinds of cancer and life threatening diseases no matter what kind and including Alzheimer.

MMS2 is calcium hypochlorite in powder form in size zero gel capsules. buy from a swimming pool store. Do not use sodium hypochlorite. Calcium hypochlorite turns into hypochlorous acid when dissolved in water. contrary to belief there is no available chlorine from this chemical regardless of what is said on the label. Use 65% powder. Fill the capsules but do not pack it in. Calcium hypochlorite becomes hypochlorous acid which is used by the body to kill microorganisms. follow instructions.

Personal Case Histories:

My first actual introduction to sodium chlorite only came a few weeks ago though I have studied its use for several years and maintained some on hand in my dispensary. I just never had a chance or inclination to use it until my 12 year old bull terrier became ill. On July 3rd, 2009, she suddenly went off of her feed. This is really abnormal for this animal. Food has always been one of the motivations in her life and it was typical of her to start barking for food around feed time. For six straight days, she showed absolutely no interest in food of any type. She was increasingly lethargic and showed a wasting that was very pronounced. It seemed obviously to me that something was very seriously wrong with this old girl. On the sixth day, she suddenly started drinking huge amounts of water with both her eye lens starting to cloud over with what appeared to be milky white cataracts which often can precede diabetes. I immediately guessed that this was signs of impending diabetes. I have experienced similar symptoms in a Scot terrier, I owned a few years earlier. That dog died. For whatever reasons, I happened to remember that I had the 28% sodium chlorite solution in my dispensary and decided to try it on the Bully. I gave her one drop activated in some homemade apple cider vinegar, waited the 3 minutes, added about one ounce of water and drenched her. Within 12 hours, she would accept food in front of her and within 24 hours, her eyes were again dark and clear. Her water drinking habits went back to normal. Within approximately three more days, she appeared alert and was again barking for food at the appropriate hour. I generally went to a 3 times-a-day drenching schedule consisting of 4-drop dosages. She probably weighs around 50 pounds. I would avoid quitting this schedule too soon, but maintain it for several weeks after the animal has regained health. So far, my dog seems to be pretty much back to normal.

I am impressed that she survived what seemed like a 6-day death march. I saw the same typesyndrome develop in my previous dog that died from diabetes. I admit, I did not test my bully for diabetes and it is purely of a judgment call, but a death spiral-no matter the cause looked obvious. The turnaround was so abrupt after giving sodium chlorite that I cannot help but believe that this was the deciding factor. I think sodium chlorite could offer much value in treating the horse as well. One just needs to drench the horse with more of it. It could also be given IV, and I regret that I did not think of using it when I was treating a bottle calf last winter that suffered frostbite and pneumonia. Antibiotics were not benefiting this calf and he looked sure to die, too. I resorted to dilute hydrochloric acid IV solution which seemed to overcome his problems. Sodium chlorite may be worth a try on those equine illnesses which our vets have a poor prognosis for with cause unknown or hard-to-treat obscure infections.

Sodium Chlorite has been found to be of value in most all infectious type diseases. It has also been found useful in many types of cancer, plus some forms of arthritis and diabetes. This latter syndrome has always been very hopelessly treated by most alternative medical procedures. Some herbs are said to help diabetes, but generally there doesn't seem much to be done. I have always had a suspicion that diabetes may be caused from an atypical infection, aggravated by diet. If this is indeed true, then it is not too surprising to find sodium chlorite to be helpful. Certainly, I was very impressed with how my dog's diabetic symptoms dissipated as mentioned above. However, this is not to suggest that my dog's case was simply a case of impeding diabetes. It seemed more complex that that. Jim Humble writes that he has found many of his diabetic patients that have taken sodium chlorite for other reasons-also find their diabetes much improved or even cured. You can watch a YouTube video of him discussing this phenomenon at:

A cat with Feline Leukemia

A relative of mine had just had his cat diagnosed with feline leukemia by his local vet. I was telling him about my success with sodium chlorite with my dog. He wanted to try it on his cat. Feline Leukemia is a retroviral infection, so it is conceivable that sodium chlorite might be successful. I gave him a 1 ounce bottle of 28% sodium chlorite with instructions on how to activate it and drenching his cat, 2-3 times a day. His cat was refusing all food, very lethargic and showing signs of impending death prior to treatment.

They phoned me several days later with the news that the cat was again eating voluntarily and showing improved activity after only a few days of treatment. It seems they were mostly drenching the cat once a day as opposed to my suggestion of 2-3 times a day. This may or may not be a factor in a faster overall recovery, but so far, so good! I will update the cat's progressing condition at a later date.
